BAM is excited to once again be working with documentary filmmaker Christopher Kai Olsen on his latest project! Olsen has been in the process of producing a documentary called “Shine: Making ‘A Light in the Dark’.” This 1/2 hour documentary follows the creation of the Thodos Dance Chicago piece “A Light In the Dark,” a ballet that explores the life of historical figure Helen Keller. In addition to the documentary, Olsen is producing a 1 hour video of the performance itself. Sound designer Philip von During has been busy doing mixes for both projects.
“A Light in the Dark” will premiere on Chicago’s WTTW on Sunday, September 8th at 2:00 PM CST with the documentary premiering before it at 1:30 PM CST. For more information, please visit WTTW online or Olsen’s personal site. Click here for a preview of the performance.
BAM has worked with Olsen on the past on his Midwest Emmy-nominated documentary “Beneath the White City Lights.”
