BAM is proud to be working on the re-release of the popular documentary series «Islands Without Cars»! «Islands Without Cars» is a series of six thirty-minute documentaries that explore the lifestyles and cultures of island communities that lack the presence of automobiles. The series, hosted by Kira Hesser, travels all over the globe to explore these civilizations, from the Aeolian Islands of Italy to Sark Island in the English Channel. Two episodes of the project originally aired on WTTW in July of 2009, and the whole series was recently picked up by PBS for national broadcast. BAM’s Brian Reed worked on several episodes of the series starting back in 2008 with creator and producer Terry Spencer-Hesser, and now Philip von During has taken over by developing new sound designs and mixes in preparation for the series’ national debut. «Islands Without Cars» will air on PBS later this year.
